Tourism: Sustainability is not enough

with No Comments

At this year’s congress “Tourism Fast Forward” in Mayrhofen/Zillertal, Austria, we contributed with a curated podium discussion following two keynote talks on integrated e-mobility and a zoomed out “view from above” perspective on how e- and mobility “flows” interconnect a broader understanding of tourism within a future bio-regional economy, that is aiming for resilience and regeneration.

With my keynote talk entitled “Sustainability is not enough. The code for success lies in regenerative cultures.” I was trying to zoom out and gain more consciousness about what we are doing, when, why, and in what context. And frame e-mobility as a current sense making step on the much larger, longer, more complex relational journey from sustainability to regeneration.

The podium talk was curated by Michael Grimm from Bright Places, and strategized for tourism practice by Sven Thönes, Bright Places. We hope to contribute to the long overdue transformation of tourism in a direction of wholistic wellbeing.
