The Swiss Television SRF broadcasted a report in hemp systems in their recent “10vor10” evening news format “The idea” on Friday, May 12th 2023.
The report highlights various hemp initiatives in Switzerland, from farming to buildings to fibers and food. I contribute with a systemic perspective on hemp’s potential to fuel a new type of low-carbon, bio-based economy, especially if hemp is grown in mountain regions where it can help tp diversify the tourism-based economy. This is one of many positive “ripple” effects of industrial hemp. A main focus is on nature-based solutions to sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through its fast growth and store it is hemp shives based building materials.
