Talks – visualized science of and for sustainability

In my talks I like to elaborate on societal topics in the wider realm of sustainable development. I think we speak enough about problems and difficulties, and we should focus more on designing a vision that we want to achieve, and invite society to engage collaboratively on making that positive change. As a scientist, I am convinced that facts and quantitative data matter and are the foundation of any action. But the qualitative parts, the soft human factor and behavioral change are to be triggered by inviting people to join the movement. Transparent and science-based, I use photography and narratives to span the bow from a desirable vision back to the situation today, proposing concrete steps on how to move forward.

These are two examples of recent key not talks:

  • Schnee von gestern. Resilienz von Wintersportzentren im Klimawandel (La neve di ieri. La resilienza dei centri sportivi invernali nei cambiamenti climatici). October 2015. Toblacher Gespräche. Dolomites, South Tirol, Italy.
  • Skiing – quo vadis? Key elements for designing the future of snow sports. Interski World Congress, Ushuaia, Argentina.
